2010 Porsche 911 Turbo Laps Nurburgring 10 Seconds Faster
The 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo has reportedly posted a laptime of 7 minutes and 39 seconds on the Nurburgring. That time beats out the last 911 Turbo by about ten seconds.
For 2010, the 911 Turbo uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that pumps out around 500 horsepower and up to 480 ft-lb of torque. This represents a 20 hp increase over the 3.6-liter engine the German automaker used to use.
With all-wheel drive, the $132,800 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo goes from 0-62 mph in about 3.4 seconds.
ZL Camaro by SLP Delivers 575 Horsepower
SLP Performance Parts is now offering what it calls the ZL575 package. Like most Camaro upgrade kits today, the SLP package uses a supercharger to crank up the horsepower along with a cold air induction induction system and a revised cat-back exhaust. The result is, you guessed it, 575-horsepower. SLP says it's good for a 11.6-second quarter mile sprint. We'll see about that.
To assure that your newly invigorated Camaro can contain all that power, the SLP package also includes a sport spring kit that lowers the car an inch for better handling. A redesigned set of 20-inch wheels is also included along with a cowl induction hood and what SLP calls a "functional rear spoiler." There are various badges and trim pieces included as well and all for the small sum of $22,995.
SLP points out that the ZL575's performance numbers match up favorably with big dollar sedans and sports cars like the Cadillac CTS-V and Shelby GT500.
Still a nearly $60,000 Camaro is a tough sell these days, but if you want one you can order the SLP package through any Chevrolet dealer.
McLaren To Add Convertible Version of MP4-12C
This might seem like sacrilege, but yes, there will be a convertible version of the upcoming McLaren MP4-12C.
The company is serious about becoming a real car company and in order to do that you have to actually sell a bunch of cars. Doing so is easier if you have more than one model, or in this case, more than one version of your one model.
Designed to keep all the basic design elements of the coupe, including its 200-plus-mph top speed, the MP4-12C convertible will use a retractable hardtop and retain the coupe's scissor-style doors. The 600-horsepower, twin-turbo V8 will remain as well although the convertible is expected to arrive with a price premium over the $250,000 coupe.
Nissan Unveils 40th Anniversary 370Z
It's been nearly forty years since that fateful day in 1969, and Nissan wasn't about to let that date slip without tarting up a 370Z for buyers who are into that sort of thing.
In this case, the 40th anniversary 370Z starts out as a Touring coupe with a manual transmission. From there it gets special "40th Quartz" paint, a couple badges, red brake calipers and a unique smoke finish for the 19-inch Rays wheels. The interior is draped in red leather set off by various pieces of trim with red stitching. There's a commemorative plaque as well, so you know you're in the club. Sales begin next spring.
